Telford and Wrekin Council announced back in October 2018 that they were looking into a new way of procuring Domiciliary Care for older people. They explained that over the next 6 – 9 months they would look at implementing a new zoning method in the hopes that this would streamline the processes and reduce costs around travel and mileage, reduce gaps and make walking runs a possibility.
They informed us that they had made the decision to split Telford up into 5 zonal areas and providers would have the right to tender for which zone they will provide care in. This meant that out of a pool of around 60 care providers in the area, only 18 approved providers would win the contract.
As a company, we decided that the best area for us to tender for was zone 2 as this was the most central zone. We are pleased to announce that following a competitive tender we were successful in our bid and was awarded Zone 2 along with 3 other providers.
Zone 2 comprises of Trench, Donnington, Muxton, Wrockwardine Wood, Priorslee, St Georges, Snedshill, Red Lake, Ketley, Wombridge and Oakengates.
We are very happy to have been given this opportunity to provide care to adults in these areas and we will be working very closely with the community to ensure an integrated care path from home to hospital and back again.
Managing Director Steve Harris said ” Telford & Wrekin have been forward thinking in bringing community and voluntary organisation into this contract and it’s the way we have been working for some time now. We look forward to being a proactive community organisation for the people of Telford & Wrekin “
The new Zones contract came into force on 1st October 2019 and we have a 2-year window in which to transition fully. What this means for us is that we will slowly be picking up new packages of care inside our zonal areas, whilst also coming away from the areas where we currently provide care that are no longer our zones.
We aim to make this transition as fluid and hassle free as possible in the hopes that in the long run, this is the way forward for all concerned.
