At a time when we are bombarded with reminders to dig deep for many different charities on our TV screens, it is important for us here at Sentinel Care Services to maintain the profile of our charity of choice – Bloodwise.
All these charities are, of course, very worthy but here at Sentinel we have supported and will continue to support Bloodwise, a charity which makes a difference to so many people’s lives.
This year our staff have been out and about again involved in various fundraising activities and thanks to them and the generous people who have given, we have just been able to hand over £718 to Bloodwise.
Our managing director Steve Harris said: “I feel passionately about Bloodwise and the work the charity does. It is so important for the many, many people it helps during the course of the year.
“I am living with Myelodysplasia, a blood cancer known as MDS, which causes a drop in the number of healthy blood cells, and have seen first-hand what a difference Bloodwise makes to the lives of so many.
“There are 230,000 people living with blood cancer across the UK and 38,000 are diagnosed each year. This makes Bloodwise such an important charity because so many people are affected by blood cancers.
“This year Sentinel staff have arranged a bake sale, Easter egg competition, our annual ride out, a colouring competition and Halloween dress-up to raise money for the charity and I am delighted to say we have raised £718.
“Everyone at Sentinel gets involved and plays a major role in putting these events on – organising, manning stations on the day and ensuring they are successful. I really can’t thank them enough for their efforts. It is really appreciated.
“Running things throughout the year also means we can keep the Bloodwise charity in the spotlight and make sure we keep their name and the work they do at the forefront of people’s thoughts.
“I must also thank all those people who come out and support these events and donate their money to what is such a wonderful cause.
“As we reach the end of another year it is a good opportunity to reveal that we will be continuing our fundraising into next year and keeping Bloodwise as our charity of choice.”
