What a great day our bake sale event in Telford turned out to be. Not only did we get to sell some wonderful items baked by our staff but we also managed to raise some vital cash for charity.
We hoped it would be a successful day after the super event we put on before Christmas – and so it turned out to be.
This recent bake raised £393 for the charity Bloodwise, bringing the total fundraising effort for the charity for the year up to £700 – and our staff are hoping to top the £1,000 with another couple of events before the end of December.
We saw some simply marvellous creations baked for sale on the day at Southwater, Telford Town Centre and we really can’t thank everyone enough for the huge amount of work that went into making it such a successful day.
We particularly want to thank Gill Reeves, one of our Telford carers and Gill Pymm, a friend of Sentinel, as they helped out all day from start to end and provided cakes for the day too.
As well as the baking delights we had a raffle for family passes to Wonderland in the town and some Bloodwise items also on sale to help boost the amount raised.
We also had a car filled with balloons and ran a competition for people to guess how many were in there with the winner getting a £20 voucher for Novello Lounge in Southwater.
There was a great deal of interest and we had a lot of people stopping by on their travels.
Raising money for Bloodwise is so important because the charity does so much good in the battle against blood cancer. Bloodwise funds research and offers support to anyone affected by blood related disorders.
Bloodwise says there are 230,000 people living with blood cancer in the UK and 38,000 are diagnosed each year – that works out at an incredible one every 14 minutes.
Bloodwise is a really important charity because blood cancers affect so many people. It’s important to highlight the work they do and how they are making a difference. We are happy to do anything we can to help raise money for and the profile of this worthy organisation and would love to think that others will be encouraged to follow suit.
